The Author:

Pelham Grenville Wodehouse
(1881 - 1975)

Born in Guildford, England, he began his career as a journalist before coming to the United States and finding success as a librettist for musicals and as a scriptwriter.

Wodehouse's prodigious literary output included 96 books, over 300 short stories, 16 plays that he wrote alone or with a collaborator, along with some or all of the lyrics to 28 musical plays.

His Bertie Wooster and Jeeves books have been extremely popular and have earned critics' accolades. Wodehouse is among the most respected writers of comedy.

The Readers:

All three readers of our Jeeves titles have received glowing praise for their portrayals of Wodehouse's zany characters. Martin Jarvis, Jonathan Cecil, and Ian Carmichael are all acclaimed actors who bring life to Jeeves and Bertie Wooster. "Brilliant! [Jarvis] captures so effortlessly the characters of Bertie, Jeeves, and Sir Roderick that fans of the Wodehouse stories will be entranced.... Jarvis brings the language sparkling to life; in fact, Wodehouse never sounded so good." -- Talking Business

"Wodehouse and Cecil are a terrific pair. Cecil's narration is marvelous, as he perfectly evokes the character of Wodehouse's Bertie Wooster." -- Publishers Weekly

"Ian Carmichael, who played Wooster on screen, gives the protagonist an especially befuddled tone." -- AudioFile
